Herbarium Borealis is a growing digital field guide to northern plants, uniting botanical science, traditional ecological knowledge, and hands‑on practice so naturalists, foragers, gardeners, and farmers can understand, steward, and work with boreal ecosystems.

Our approach
A lush, late-summer boreal forest understory focused on a detailed cluster of northern blueberries and lingonberries. Each berry appears plump with a natural bloom, nestled among glossy, serrated green leaves and soft mosses. The plants emerge from a spongy carpet of reindeer lichen, fallen needles, and twigs. Diffused overcast light filters through tall spruce trunks in the softly blurred background, creating gentle highlights on the berries and subtle shadows in the moss.
